Artefact, in partnership with Tencent Cloud (International) and Alipay (International), hosted a seminar entitled “AI FOR TOURISM, Harnessing The Power of AI and Data for Travel & Hospitality” at its Shanghai office on 22 October. The event focused on enhancing the service experience for Chinese tourists through AI and data technology, and brought together travel and hospitality brands, including hotels, airlines, resorts, tourism boards and travel retail.

Artefact highlighted that China’s tourism industry is projected to grow threefold in the next decade. As the demand for personalized travel experiences rapidly increases, the sector is entering a new era of “travel your own way.” Artefact emphasized the importance of integrating first, second, and third-party data and establishing a CDP as the key to industry success. By adopting strategies of “Inspire, Delight, and Listen,” brands can effectively utilize data intelligence to create differentiated travel solutions and continuously refine future travel offerings based on customer feedback.

Tencent Cloud focused on first-party data application, showcasing how it can drive innovation in private domain marketing within the leisure and travel industry. Their research found that consumer demands are becoming increasingly diverse, with interaction points growing fragmented, positioning social platforms as crucial channels for context-driven shopping.

Alipay, through collaborations with brands and operators, has built an ecosystem linking retailers, brands, and travelers. Its integrated travel solutions have significantly supported brands in increasing traffic, conversion rates, and repeat purchases.

Artefact presented case studies of GenAI-powered social listening from a third-party data perspective. By transitioning from marketer-oriented to consumer-centric approaches, GenAI social listening can extract highly refined insights from online consumer behavior, playing a crucial role in decoding complex consumer behavior and transforming market challenges into opportunities.

In conclusion, Artefact introduced the forthcoming Travel Experience Index (TX Index). This index offers comprehensive market assessments and actionable business guidance through five key dimensions: Experience Elevation, Price Value, Location Appeal, Utility & Amenity, and Scale & Popularity. It aims to help brands adapt to evolving market trends and achieve sustained growth.

The event explored new opportunities in the tourism industry from multiple perspectives, aiming to lead the next wave of innovation in travel services by providing brands with scientific data support and practical growth strategies.
